A healthier diet, a more sustainable development.

Transparent labels

An ID card rich in information for a higher consumer's awareness.

The key to a healthy life is a varied and well-balanced diet. Therefore, being aware of the nutritional composition of food is necessary to choose a healthy diet. That's why it is important to know how to read the food labels - a sort of ID card that provides us with key information, like for instance:

The recipe - Ingredients are listed in descending order of weight. If the product's denomination includes an ingredient that characterizes the whole product (for example a chocolate merendina), the percentage of the above mentioned ingredient in the product's composition will be indicated just at its side.

The Nutritional composition - The energy value (calories) and nutritional elements included in food: fats, saturated fats, carbohydrates, sugars, fibers, proteins, salt, vitamins and minerals.

The nutritional labelling isn't required by law (it will be mandatory from 13 December 2016), but the members voluntarily chose to provide consumers with this kind of information on the packaging. Since 2004, AIDEPI has developed some "recommendations" for the voluntary adoption of the nutritional label, implying the indication of at least 4 main elements (calories, proteins, carbohydrates and fats) per 100 grams of product and per portion. In addition to the nutritional label, AIDEPI also recommends the voluntary adoption of the indicative intake of the contribution added to the diet by a portion of product, in terms of both absolute value and percentage of the daily need.
