Breakfast cereals are simple and natural products, and represent a great choice for a nourishing and well-balanced breakfast.
From the U.S.A., where they were created, at the end of the nineteenth century, breakfast cereals arrived in Italy in the 1960s, during the economic boom. It was an instant success: the absolute novelty aroused the curiosity of the general audience - and that of children in particular.
Generally, breakfast cereals are high in carbohydrates - providing a good energy intake - and often in fibers, too. They are usually low in fats and, in most of the cases, their formula also includes a further enrichment through several micro-nutrients, like iron, calcium and vitamins.
